Feathers
Everyone loves a beautiful bird. But do you pause to take a close look at the actual feathers. Most people see them just as a gob of color or texture that make up the bird. There are many different types of feathers, many specialized feathers. Every bird has many different types of feathers including flight feathers, contour feathers and down feathers. By not including the eye in the pictures the viewer is encouraged to focus instead on the feathers themselves. See the detail there. The structure and patterns developed there. This is my kind of picture. To get the viewer to take a second look at the familiar and see the rest of the story. Every feather has a beauty in its own right. Every feather is a little masterpiece waiting to be appreciated.
