McKee Springs Native American Rock Art Site

The defining panel of McKee Springs. The main character is a trapezoid Fremont style figure. Arms are stylized, feet are indicated, the 'head' may be a mask. Eyes and mouth are indicated but no nose. A tight fitting necklace is indicated which may match the belt. Ear bobs are shown. A brest plate of local style is indicated. The hair or headdress while not elaborate almost certainly is indicitive of some elite status. Of particular interest, in the characters left hand is what is deemed to be a scalp. In his right hand is an elaborately decorated shield with a spiral decoration and fringe indicated. Also on this panel is a smaller character to the left. This fully pecked character also has ear bobs and modest hairdo or headdress. The character is phalic. This character is likewise carring what is deemed to be a scalp in the right hand.
