Castle Gardens Native American Rock Art Site

While noted for warrior shields, this glyph is the most famous at the Castle Gardens rock art site. This male character covered with 9 bear paw prints. Does this represent a person killed by bears or a great killer of bears?? Note the V sholders comon to human representions in rock art in this area.

Now a more typical shield from this site. Appears to be 2 lions with a geometric pattern or cross. It appears to have been painted at one time.

This fringed shield has two bird zoomorphs and a possible geometric design at the bottom. I think the birds are supposed to be turkeys although they appear to be more like vultures.

A geometric shield pattern. Note that the shield is fringed. There are some markings to the upper right. Do they represent some sort of weapon? Decoration? Are unrelated to the shield.

Shadows are from a protective chain link fence. This shield appears to have a geometric pattern and is fringed. The circular pattern at the top may have been of special significance. There appears to be a 'handle' of some sort at the top of the shield.

This shield is dominated by a 'masked' figure that is flsnked by zoomorphs, possible representing lions. The multiple lines below may be tool sharpening artifacts in addition to some arrows(spears?).
